Heaven or Hell Puzzle :- You are standing before two doors. One leads to heaven and the other one leads to hell. There are two guardians, one by each door. You know one of them always tells the truth and the other always lies, but you don’t know who is the honest one and who is the liar.

Now, you can ask only one question to them in order to find a way to heaven. What will be the question you will ask?

Solution of Heaven or Hell Puzzle :-

The question you should ask from any guards is :-

“If I ask the guard standing on the other door that which door leads to heaven, what would be its answer?”

Whatever the answer it gives, that door will always lead to hell. So you should choose the other door which will lead you to heaven.

Here is the explanation how it works, for easy understanding let’s name them.

A – Door to hell

B – Door to heaven

Case 1 :-

You ask above question from the guard standing before the door A., In this case, there can be two scenarios, first when the honest guard is at door A and a liar at door B and second when a liar is at door A and honest at door B.

First scenario :-

A (honest guard) —    B(liar guard)

Door A                  <–  Door A

Door A is hell, So choose door B.

Second scenario :-

A (liar guard) —      B(honest guard)

Door A            <–    Door B

Door A is hell, So choose door B.

Case 2 :-

Similarly when you ask above question from the guard standing before the door B, there can be two scenarios, first when the honest guard is at door B and liar at door A and second when a liar is at door B and honest at door A.

First scenario :-

A (liar guard) —       B(honest guard)

Door A             –>    Door A

Door A is hell, So choose door B.

Second scenario :-

A (honest guard) —   B(liar guard)

Door B                  –> Door A

Door A is hell, So choose door B
